Canada Care Medical Group History
Canada Care Medical began in 1969 as the Ottawa Ostomy Centre, providing ostomy products and services to patients, hospitals and wholesale clients.
In 1970, owner and founder Brian Meloche graduated as a Certified Enterostomal Therapist from Harrisburg Hospital (in association with Temple University) in Harrisburg, PA. This certification allowed Brian to provide consultation services to patients and the medical community, services that were not readily available at the time.
Subsequently, the Ottawa Ostomy Centre and its subsidiaries were rebranded as Canada Care Home Health. The change was made as the company grew and was providing more medical products and services in more product sectors, including mobility, wound care and aids for daily living.
In 1991, Canada Care Home Health adopted its current name Canada Care Medical Inc.
Canada Care Medical has seen significant growth since its inception in 1969, including purchase of several Quebec-based companies, Les Entreprises médicales de l’Outaouais, Médi-Santé and Ergo-Santé, and purchase of Embracor Medical in the Maritimes. CCM also maintains a store inside the Ottawa Hospital General Campus lobby and has recently opened a new store in Toronto’s North York district.
Today, Canada Care Medical operates 9 locations in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes and employs over 140 dedicated staff members. Canada Care Medical is a registered ADP (Assistive Devices Program) vendor, services government LHIN, CLSCs, and Social Development contracts and has fulfilled over one million orders for retail, wholesale and government clients. CCM provides an unparalleled breadth of medical products options in hundreds of categories and holds an inventory of some 11,000 products. Our Brampton warehouse facility is proud to be ISO 9001 Quality Management System registered.
